Support Ending for Akeneo 5.0: What’s Next?

Since launching its 1.0 Edition in September of 2014, Akeneo has carefully and consistently updated the Product Information Management (PIM) solutions software it provides. Currently offering everything from a free edition, up to an advanced Saas edition, Akeneo supports a platform as a service option,  known as Flexibility.

In his update following Akeneo’s 2022 Unlock Conference in Paris, Sitation’s Senior Director, Solution Architecture, George Dzuricsko shares a high compliment on the platform’s upgrades to this offering.

“Deserving the highest praise I can offer, every year Akeneo fixes the biggest platform weakness I’ve encountered.

  • 2.0 added true configurable products for enrichment  with model variants. I had a good laugh with a developer this year about the original inner variation bundle and the challenges of migrating from 1.7 to 2.0
  • 3.0 Added much improved reference entities, removing the the need to write code for reference data
  • 4.0 Brought true asset management, addressing the needs that image and videos were critical to products and had their own metadata that should also be managed in the PIM
  • 5.0 gave us improvements to rules, data quality analytics, and improved associations”

Akeneo 6.0

Akeneo’s newest product, released in March of 2022 is no exception, with tailored upgrades and app improvements among the upgrades. Easily divided into productivity and connectivity, Akeneo 6.0 adds useful functionality.

Often a new edition signals a timeline for the end of support to older iterations. Akeneo 5.0 technical support will be discontinued after September 30, 2022.

While we witness the sunset of 5.0, we are eager and excited to help you transition to Akeneo version 6.

As you look ahead to Akeneo 6.0 support ending in September of 2023, one year after 5.0, it may be time to consider a move from PaaS offerings to the SaaS option, Serenity. Sitation can provide additional information to help you understand all of the Akeneo options.

As new development brings more growth and change to the powerful PIM, visit this Akeneo Roadmap to see what’s new and what’s next.
